Easter is a Christian holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, which Christians believe occurred on the third day after his crucifixion around AD 33.

However, many secular cultural elements have become part of the holiday. Nowadays in America, Easter is frequently associated with bunnies, baskets, colored eggs and chocolate.

Easter always falls on a Sunday, at some point between March 22nd and April 25th, following the cycle of the moon. The next Easter (in the western world) will fall on April 12th, 2009.

Easter is considered the Christian equivalent of the Jewish holiday called Passover, which falls right around the same date. The Last Supper shared by Jesus and his disciples before his crucifixion is generally thought of as a Passover meal.
