FALL LEAVES CLIP ART

Fall Leaves Clip Art

September is the ninth month of the year, and has 30 days.

In the United States, September is associated with Labor Day (1st Monday of the month), National Grandparents Day (1st Sunday after Labor Day), the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, and the new school year.

September's birthstone is the sapphire, a symbol of clear thinking.

The only U.S. state admitted to the Union during the month of September was California.

SEPTEMBER

by John Updike

The breezes taste

Of apple peel.

The air is full

Of smells to feel-

Ripe fruit, old footballs,

Burning brush,

New books, erasers,

Chalk, and such.

The bee, his hive,

Well-honeyed hum,

And Mother cuts

Chrysanthemums.

Like plates washed clean

With suds, the days

Are polished with

A morning haze.

IN SEPTEMBER

by Edward Dowden

Spring scarce had greener fields to show than these

Of mid September; through the still warm noon

The rivulets ripple forth a gladder tune

Than ever in the summer; from the trees

Dusk-green, and murmuring inward melodies,

No leaf drops yet; only our evenings swoon

In pallid skies more suddenly, and the moon

Finds motionless white mists out on the leas.
