When planning your next float trip Alaska vacation, consider Halibut Cove a must-see destination.
Located in beautiful Kachemak Bay State Park on the Kenai Peninsula, six miles southeast of Homer, the cove is an enchanted hideaway with a year round population of less than 50 people. Roughly a third of them are resident artists, so the community is alive with local businesses, and has no less than three art galleries. It also features America's only floating post office, as well as a floating coffee shop.
Accessible only by boat, Halibut Cove is very popular among tourists everywhere. Yet it remains a peaceful sanctuary and a quiet spiritual retreat, as the local residents have a long standing tradition of maintaining the area's serene and natural beauty.
