Shown below are the official state seals of Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming, in that order.
A state seal is an official emblem whose features are supposed to symbolize the state it represents. Ohio's seal, for instance, features the Scioto River separating cultivated fields from Mount Logan. A sheaf of wheat in the foreground represents agriculture. A bundle of 17 arrows symbolizes Ohio as the 17th state to join the Union.
Some states have more than one seal. These pages show each state's most recently approved state seal.
Pictured to your right is the official seal of the United States.
