The current USA population is now over 300 million. About a quarter of these people are minors (under 18 years of age). The list below shows the percentage of each state's population who are under the age of 18.
These figures are based on 2005 estimates by the US Census Bureau. The data raises some interesting questions. For instance, why does Alaska have a higher percentage of children than any other state?
Is it because Alaska has the best schools? Or do Alaskans, on average, have more kids? Could it be that Alaskan adults move away to escape the freezing weather as they get older? Or is there maybe some other reason?
