LAKE HUBBARD FISHING RESORT

One good Lake Hubbard fishing resort is the Shelby Resort, a small, year-round vacation property with two pretty lakefront bungalows. Shelby is located in a quiet residential area on the west side of the Lake, whose clean, cool water is well stocked with bass, perch, pike, tiger muskie, trout, walleye, and many other prime catches.

The west bungalow features a fireplace and a nice lake view. The other one has AC, a washer/dryer, and lake frontage. Both bungalows are two bedroom/one bathroom units that sleep six. Both have heat, cable TV, DVD players, and fully-equipped kitchens. Pillows and blankets are also provided.

The property has a 30-foot boat dock, a picnic table, lawn furniture, barbecue grills and a fire pit. The cottages are not handicapped accessible. Rates are quite reasonable, starting at around a hundred dollars a night. Call 248-332-3064 for further details.

Lake Hubbard is popular during all seasons. The area, which caters to tourists, has many beautiful sights and local activities to choose from.

Lake Hubbard is a favorite destination for boaters and anglers in summer, but also appeals to ice-fishermen, skaters and snowmobile riders in winter.

Other local activities include swimming, nature photography and hiking in the Huron National Forest.

You might also play golf at the White Pine National Golf Club, located on the southeast edge of the lake.

Or visit Newegon State Park along the shores of Thunder Bay, less than 20 miles east from there.

Cute nearby towns include Alpena, Ossineke, Lincoln Village, and Hubbard Lake (an unincorporated community about a mile north of the lake itself).
