Lake Hubbard Michigan

Lake Hubbard Michigan, part of which was once considered a holy place by the Great Lakes Indians, has been a popular vacation spot for over a hundred years.

Travelers love this clear, spring-fed lake, nestled in the forested hills of Alcona County. The lake spans 8,800 acres over three townships, and measures seven miles at its widest point. The water's edge features 30 miles of wooded shoreline, punctuated by inns, cabins, cottages, resorts and quaint little eateries. Lake Hubbard is a favorite destination for boaters and anglers in summer, but also appeals to ice-fishermen, skaters and snowmobile riders in winter.

Other local activities include swimming, nature photography and hiking in the Huron National Forest. You might also play golf at the White Pine National Golf Club, located on the southeast edge of the lake. Or visit Newegon State Park along the shores of Thunder Bay, less than 20 miles east from there. Cute nearby towns include Alpena, Ossineke, Lincoln Village, and Hubbard Lake (an unincorporated community about a mile north of the lake itself).
