AMERICAN LIFE EXPECTANCY STATISTICS
Let's take an an up-to-date look at the average life expectancy (A-L-E) of the average person living in America. Below is a list of all 50 states, ranked in order of the average life span for residents of that state.
But before you pack up and move to Hawaii (or out of Mississippi, or even out of the country after viewing the chart to your right), be aware that these are only numbers. They represent a very broad average of the population.
Variations in life expectancy by state may be due to any of a number of factors, like diet, crime rates and health care, for instance. All of these factors are a function of income.
It's also worth noting that Washington D.C, if it were a state, would finish 51st on this list.
