Shown here is a full state map of California, which is located on the Pacific coast of North America. With a land area of about 160,000 square miles, it is the 3rd largest state in the nation. Beyond it's borders are Oregon to the north, Nevada and Arizona on the east, and Mexico (Baja California) to the south.

California, which has 58 counties, is home to more people than any other state in America. Its largest cities are Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose and San Francisco.

California's land is characterized by beaches in the west, mountains to the east, and the agriculturally rich Central Valley in between.
