Massachusetts Facts

1. The official state flower of Massachusetts is the Mayflower.

2. The official state tree of Massachusetts is the American Elm.

3. Thes official state bird of Massachusetts is the Chickadee.

4. Massachusetts is home to at least two of the world's top Universities - Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), both located in Cambridge. 

5. Massachusetts is divided into seven geographical regions: Berkshires, Connecticut River Valley, Central, Eastern, Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket Island.

6. The ten largest cities in Massachusetts (by population size) are Boston (population currently approaching 618,000), Worcester, Springfield, Lowell, Cambridge, New Bedford, Brockton, Quincy, Lynn and Fall River, in that order.

7. The state of Massachusetts is home to 30 State Parks and one National Park.

8.  Native American Indian Tribes from Massachusetts include Hassanamisco and Wampanoag.
