and INDIAN TRIBES LISTED BY STATE
Native American Clipart
This page shows Native American tribes listed by state, along with a colorful selection from the clipart gallery. Just right click on any image you like, and save it to your photo file for future use. There are currently 569 Federally recognized American Indian/Alaska Native tribes. According to a 2000 census report, the total population of ALL these tribes is well under 3 million. Today, Native American
Indian Tribes
represent only about two-thirds of one percent (0.67%) of the entire US population. This is a list-in-progress of existing Federally recognized or State recognized Native American Tribes in what is now the USA. They appear beneath the states in which they live. They are listed alphabetically by state, then by tribe. Tribes are listed here whether or not they live on reservation lands. For a list of reservations by state, click the link at the bottom of this page. Natives of Hawaii are a separate issue, as they have an entirely different history from the mainland natives. So Hawaiian Native tribes are not dealt with on this page. Comments, suggestions and corrections are more than welcome.
