PRINTABLE MAP OF USA

Here's a printable map of USA state borders, state capitals, major cities, and national parks & monuments.

Covering about 3.7 million square miles, the U.S.A. is divided into 50 states. Its mainland, consisting of 48 states, is bordered by Canada on the north, Mexico on the south, and the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans to the east and west, respectively. In total square miles, the United States is the third largest country in the world.

The U.S. mainland is made up mostly of grasslands in the east (a notable exception being the Appalachian Mountains), prairie in the midwest (with quite a bit of forest), desert in the southwest, and mountains in the west. Significant water bodies include the five Great Lakes and the Mississippi-Missouri River.

There are 50 US states in all: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

If you bisect an imaginary earth into northern and southern halves (at the equator), the USA is located in the northern hemisphere, which contains almost 90% of the earth's population. The northern hemisphere consists of Asia, Europe, North America, Central America, a small part of South America, and about two thirds of Africa.

On the other hand, if the earth is sectioned into east and west (divided at the prime meridian), then America is located in the western hemisphere. The western hemisphere generally refers to the Americas, including associated islands like the West Indies and Greenland.
