The Seven Layer Salad recipe is a versatile dish that can include just about any ingredients you can think of (and any number of layers). The one pictured here is a vegan creation made with vinaigrette dressing. But layered salad recipes may also include hard boiled egg, bacon bits, shredded cheese, and a dressing made with mayo and sugar.

Here's a sample recipe:
SEVEN-LAYER SALAD
First, you'll need a 12-ounce glass or glass bowl.
Place a 1-inch layer of each of the following ingredients, IN THIS ORDER, pressing down firmly on each layer.
INGREDIENTS:
2 tablespoons of your favorite salad dressing
shredded carrots
chopped avocado
chopped celery
hard boiled egg
pitted black olives
chopped tomatoes
chopped bell peppers
sliced beets
DIRECTIONS:
Press down firmly.
Cover and refrigerate until serving time.
When ready to serve, place some fresh lettuce on a salad plate.
Overturn glass (or bowl) onto the lettuce.
Let sit for 3-5 minutes while the dressing drips down through the layers.
