SEVEN LAYER SALAD RECIPE

The Seven Layer Salad recipe is a versatile dish that can include just about any ingredients you can think of (and any number of layers).

The cool, colorful layered salad pictured here is a vegan creation made with vinaigrette dressing. But layered salad recipes may also include hard boiled egg, bacon bits, shredded cheese, and a dressing made with mayo and sugar.

Layered salad recipes are popular because the procedure is easy, the presentation is classy and the ingredients are healthy and delicious.

For appetizers, entrees, breads, desserts and other great recipe ideas, see the links at the bottom of this page.

Here's a sample layered salad recipe:

SEVEN-LAYER SALAD

For starters, you'll need one tall twelve-ounce glass for each individual serving.

Place a one-inch layer of each of the following ingredients, IN THE ORDER SHOWN HERE, pressing down firmly on each new added layer as you go:

INGREDIENTS:

2 tablespoons of your favorite salad dressing (raspberry vinaigrette is highly recommended).

raw shredded carrots

chopped avocado

chopped celery

chopped hard boiled egg

pitted, chopped black olives

chopped tomatoes

chopped green or yellow bell peppers

sliced canned beets

DIRECTIONS:

Press down firmly on the final ingredient layer.

Cover each glass with cling plastic wrap and refrigerate until serving time.

When ready to serve, arrange some fresh lettuce leaves on each salad plate.

Overturn each glass onto the lettuce on each plate.

Let the glasses sit for about five minutes while the dressing drips down through the layers.

Carefully lift and remove each glass.

Serve immediately.
