MARCH CALENDAR and SPRING CLEANING TIPS

Spring Cleaning Tips

March is the third month of the year, and has 31 days.

In the United States, March is known as Women's History Month. American holidays occurring in March include National Reading Day (March 2nd), Mardi Gras (ongoing thru the first week of March) and Saint Patrick's Day (March 17th).

March is also known for the first day of spring, the school year's spring break, Major League Baseball's spring training, and sometimes Easter.

March's birthstones are aquamarine and bloodstone. These stones symbolize courage.

Below are two poems related to the month of March. Click the links at the bottom of this page for calendars, coloring pages and more about March.

SHAMROCK

by Andrew Cherry, an Irish Playwright (1762-1812)

There's a dear little plant

that grows in our isle,

'Twas St. Patrick himself

sure that set it;

And the sun on his labour

with pleasure did smile,

And with dew from his eye

often wet it.

It thrives through the bog,

through the brake,

through the mireland;

And he called it the dear

little shamrock of Ireland—

The sweet little shamrock,

the dear little shamrock,

The sweet little, green little,

shamrock of Ireland!

SAINT PATRICK - author unknown

Saint Patrick was a gentleman,

he came from decent people,

In Dublin town he built a church,

and put upon't a steeple;

His father was a Callaghan,

his mother was a Brady,

His aunt was an O'Shaughnessy,

and his uncle was a Grady.

Then success to bold St. Patrick's fist,

he was a saint so clever;

He gave the snakes and toads a twist,

and banished them forever.
